There is a lot of information out on the internet for just about any topic you can think of. But when it comes to marketing on the internet, besides reading, you should be doing. There are some high quality blogs out there providing everyone with everything from the basics to advanced information regarding the marketing of your blog. Take it all in, or as much as you can, but don’t forget to DO some of it.

What is the value of all of that information if you never put it to good use? There are many bloggers that read, talk about reading this or that from here or there, but are they actually implementing any of those tactics or experimenting with new things? Not likely and that is the sad part.

If you are serious about blogging, take in the advice that is out there and put it to work. There is nothing wrong with a little testing here and there. How else will you know what works and what doesn’t?

So, next time you are reading about the next biggest thing for bloggers (a widget, tactic, some software, etc), why not give it a try, you just never know what you might find out about your blog.

After seeing the city that I live in, go about installing multiple round-a-bouts at a highway intersection, I got to thinking about marketing and making money online in general.

*Side note: the round-a-bouts are installed at the on ramps, off ramps and one intersection right near the intersection. So if you can picture it, good luck, but for this case, just take a regular round-a-bout.*

I started thinking about what people do to make some money online and ways they market their website or blog. A lot of people stay in the round-a-bout, right? You find something that works and you don’t want to mess that up by trying something different. You might find a way to monetize your site, start to think about other ways, but won’t take the plunge for fear of losing what you had.

My point is that you should be willing to jump outside the loop and try something else. Don’t be afraid of losing anything, just keep trying. If you found a good way to market your site and have been doing it that way for years, maybe you’ll find a better way just outside that loop.

Some folks will sit in the round-a-bout going around and around all day long. Some will go around one time and head out for another try on another avenue. If you have ever driven inside a round-a-bout, you’ll see the people that are confused and scared, don’t be that guy. Take the round-a-bout like everyone else, but make sure you get off once in a while to experience other avenues.

Have you ever looked at trends.google.com? The service that google.com provides can be quite useful if you are looking to get traffic from google.com to your blog.

First
Go to http://trends.google.com and see what the top 20 searches were for today. The first thing you will see is a regular google.com search-lookin’ page and a list below it. Those things listed are the current top searches for the day. Click on the first one.

Second
The next page will show you a graph (showing the amount of searches for that term over the last month or so) and a list of places you can read about the keyword. Take a long look at the list at the left of your screen. Those are the keywords and if you click on one, it will graph it for you. You will also see related articles listed under the graph.

Third
Find a term that strikes any sort of interest in you, proceed to your blog and write about this term. You can name the term 2-3 times throughout your blog post. If the keyword is something like “paris jailt ime” you will be able to use the term for awhile. Be sure to pick terms related to your content otherwise you will be getting traffic, but it won’t be of any use to you.

Fourth
Publish your post and by the time google.com crawls your blog, the keyword should still be in the Top 20 or so. Either way, you should start to see an increase in your google.com traffic. Go ahead and try it. I have done it on this blog and a couple of others. I have seen results, but of course, it depends on the keyword. Good Luck!
