A couple of months ago I posted about how easy it was to set up an ad on Myspace. Since then, I have also attempted to two campaigns and posted about them here and here. The first was an attempt at promoting a dating site that wasn’t really done all that well. The second was for a niche site that I created and seemed to go much better once I had the targeting feature all figured out.

So now, I attempted my 3rd go around with Myspace Advertising and again, I chose the niche site as the landing page. This site is making me about $200 a month now, I thought I would see if I could increase that with Myspace.

Ad Information

Since I am promoting Iron Man Collectibles, I knew I had to target an audience that was into things like the movie, action figures and comic, for sure. These types of people love to shop, collect and spend big $$$ on ebay. Below I listed who I targeted for this campaign.

Demographics

Males only

18-30

Education – all

Relationship – all

Perental Status – no preference

Geographics

National – US

Interests

Comics, Batman, X-men, Iron Man

I thought about it for only 10 minutes or so before I started the campaign and Myspace only gives you a few options when it comes to targeting interests. I really like Facebook better for this, but I felt that promoting this site would be better on Myspace.

My PPC was set at .50 (about half way between recommended), I set my budget to $25 per day for a total campaign budget of $75. That means I will spend $25 per day, but never more than $75 total. In this case, it only took 3 days to reach my maximum.

As you can see, my CTR was .20% which I guess isn’t all that bad. I did like to see the 74,432 ad views though. I targeted a larger group than I thought and maybe could have narrowed that down a bit, on the other hand, I did go through all my clicks in under 3 days! That is nice to see as well. If my clicks would have taken 2 weeks, I would have had to look at who I was targeting and maybe clean that up a bit. It looks like I targeted the right group fo clickers, that’s a plus!

Where Did All The Clickers Go?

Since we know that I am promoting a niche site hooked up through ebay, I also checked the stats available from the EPN. Right now, it is showing about 49 clicks through to ebay on these 3 days. I checked my EPN stats and I can see the clicks through to ebay. Since the cookies are good for 7 days, I will have to update you on the actual amount of $$$ the clicks made.

Stay tuned!

I also had over 1900 new visitors to this blog, but as you can see, not too many of them found the content good (or unique) enough to subscribe. I understand that part of it. This blog is very similar to many others on the web, it’s just that this one is MY blog and where I jot down my experiences. It might not set it apart from all the others, but my situations might create an idea or situation for another.

Some of things I would like to see in the future?

I guess i wouldn’t mind to see about 500 more subscribers for the new year. I will have to think of ways to gain the readership that other blogs have and that is going to take some serious planning. I also would like to see more people commenting on my blog. With at least 15 visitors per day, I would like to think my content would create some discussion with at least ONE of them.

I also plan to get more involved in social media. I know the traffic isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but the effort it takes to gain the exposure is quite small. So, I don’t think it was a bad 5 months at all. The traffic is choppy but on the rise and I have gained subscribers without any type of subscribing contest, so that must mean something.

Wish me luck and I would like to say good luck to everyone in 2009!

Recently, I posted a video on how easy it was to setup an ad on Myspace.com. That same day I had created an ad for my Iron Man Collectibles website. Since the DVD release was the 30th of September, I wanted to hit it up early on Myspace, figuring they took a day or two to approve ads.

The ad was approved on the 29th and I have all the results from that $25 campaign. It only took me 5 minutes to throw together a simple ad with my domain name as the text and a picture of Iron Man as the background. I loaded my account with the minimum $25 and let the ad rip at a recommended bid of .36/click (at .36, myspace estimated 70 clicks).

A Little Background

I used the fantastic “Facebook-like” targeting features to get my ad shown to males, ages 14-30, that live the US only. I just figured that was the group most likely to click. I didn’t want to blow my CTR on tens of thousands of views that didn’t get me clicks. The group included interests in Comic Books & Superheroes, X-Men, Comics, naturally.

The Results

I wanted max exposure since the Iron Man DVD release was going to be talked about a lot. The very next day my ad was shown over 28,000times and yielded me 40 clicks. I was pretty impressed with the results. After the entire $25 campaign was over, which lasted only 4 days, the money earned was a grand total of $35.58from 100 clicks to ebay.

The Myspace ad only shows 90 clicks to my ad, so the other 10 would have been clicks from search engine traffic, most likely. Of those 4 days you can see the clicks were the best the day AFTER the DVD release. I am not saying that had 100% to do with the clicks, but I am sure that it helped.

Summary

Money Spent: $25

Money Earned: $35.58

Total Profit: $10.58

Total Views: 43,430

Total Clicks: 90

Ending CTR: .21%

I can happily say that my $25 spent on my first Myspace advertising campaign was well worth it. Will it work for everyone? I don’t think so, but if you play around with your ads and adjust your targeting correctly, you just might find the sweet spot. I think it works better than Facebook, but they might not really even be comparable at this point.

Granted I only made $10, but more importantly, this is the FIRST time I generated a profit in any type of PPC, so that is well worth it to a beginner!

Have you seen any results via Myspace Advertising?

For this month I thought I would try something a little different and post my affiliate network earnings, from the previous month, in the sidebar. What do you think? I thought about doing a post every month, just like everyone else, but this idea popped into my head, so I went with it. I will keep it up there until someone tells me it’s too tacky to show it in this way.

September Results

As you can see, the income from September is lower, but it’s still income. I also tried a couple of PPC campaigns that weren’t too successful, but I did learn a thing or two. I would say, that after all is said and done, this last month was close to a wash.

What did I do

I purchased a couple more domain names to setup with BANS or re-sell, so that put a small dent in those earnings as well. I think that I am on the right track. My network of websites/blogs has started to show some search rankings in the “big 3″ and I can see the earnings show from it. The traffic is also starting to come up, as well. I haven’t been able to hit the nail on the head with all of my affiliate offers this last month, but I did some testing and still had a bunch of them on Sukosaki.info work to my advantage.

I also started a graphics website setup with an e-junkie shopping cart so that I could sell my headers, advertising banners and logos. That one is going to take a while to get going because I want to make enough content to sell before doing any promotion. There is one banner on there now, but it’s really just setup as a test.

And that’s that

As you can see I have been quite busy this past month. I try to add content to my BANS sites and keep my blog updated so that you guys are bored without any posts to read. Eventually the websites/blogs will be on auto pilot, but in the meantime, it’s going to be month after month of being busy like this. See you at next months earnings summary.

Looks like I finally made enough money with RocketProfit.com to get a payment. Mind you that this is all from ONE post, again. I posted a simple email submit on a post about Pepsi’s newest promotion with Amazon.com, Pepsistuff.com. The post isn’t on this blog, but nonetheless, the search engines picked up this post and the traffic rolled in at about 200+ UV’s per day.
I was quite happy with the results and even the fact that I could duplicate something I did in the past, in which I made over $400 with ONE post, by doing the same thing with a promotion from last year.

It’s real nice to see results and this one was a nice addition to my Paypal.com account. Since my PPC campaigns aren’t doing too well, this type of thing is keeping the money flowing in at least.

If you haven’t seen the posts, on my old blog, about how I made money from one post, I can summarize here again. Basically, all I did was put up a post about the new Pepsi sweepstakes with Pepsistuff.com in the title. Why does this matter? Well, there are plenty of people that search the internet by typing the actual web address in search boxes. That means my post, with address in the title, will be picked up very quickly by SE and rank higher each day.

Once the traffic, or actually before the traffic, comes in I find an CPA ad that is relavent to the post and put a text link to it on top of my post. I choose an offer that asks you to “choose your favorite Coke or Pepsi”. When the user clicks, they pick and then submit email. If they enter their email $1.80 came my way!

Since the traffic is only coming to my blog to click through to the Pepsi website, the ad is just another place to click. None of the information I have in the post is all that valuable. If the user clicks on my CPA offer, the odds go up that I will make some money and they still have to find their way to the actual sweeps website.

All the traffic came from Google and Yahoo. If you typed in, and maybe still, CallYourPlay.com or Pepsistuff.com, my blog should be on the first page and if I am still lucky, right under the actual game website. I really never could figure out why someone would click my link than the one they needed, but I guess you never know.
