What is your blog about? Do you know the type of audience it requires to be succcessful? Do you know where to advertise to get that audience?
Just creating a blog and thinking that readers will come to it will not get you anywhere with your blog. Once you find a niche, something you are passionate/knowledgeable about, you should really decide where to get your readers from.
Some people like to post in relevant forums. I do this in webmaster, affiliate marketing and blogging forums all over the place. It’s something that I know enough about that I could help some newbies and a signature link back to my blog is a good way to keep readers coming for information.
Others like to submit to directories. There are so many on the web now that you can actually find one for just about any topic, niche or profession. A lot of them are free to submit to, but the good ones will charge for placement or even by the month. This keeps the submittions to a minimum, but the quality is much better in the end.
This is where I will end the first part of the series on “How to market your blog”. Subscribe to my feed so that you don’t miss the other parts.

Those are great tips for online marketing but if you’re a small business you’ll have to get creative. Generating buzz at a Chamber of Commerce, at networking events, and local directories. I’ll tell you, local newspapers always love getting Press Releases, if you’ve never done one before check out http://www.pressreleasegrader.com. My HubSpot friends created this little site and it will give you tips before you send along that Press Release.

I am just trying to stick to my niche, which I really know less about that I should, but I think if I post things like this I could see an increase in visits.
