I sat around at various homes this holiday to celebrate Christmas. All I could think about was marketing. I have been trying to market this blog any which way that I can. I have been all over the Forums at Digitalpoint.com and various blogs to find tips. I did very little work on my blogs/websites and it was nice to have a break in all the affiliate marketing/ecommerce action for once.
The problem was, I couldn’t help but notice all the different ways that things are marketed to consumers, especially on the holidays. Food, drink, pills, toys, charity and much, much more! It was everywhere. It’s not like these things just popped up, they have always been there. But I started to notice more and more of them every time I turned around.
The biggest one was the television. Now, my DVR is nice and I don’t see many commercials, but being at the mercy of the relatives homes, I don’t have that option. Being forced through commercials was rough, but I started to pick out the little bits and pieces that are put in place to intrigue just about anybody watching.
My point is this, if you are having trouble marketing your blog or website, look around, see how other companies are doing it. Think about the last time a sign, email or commercial made you purchase, or think about purchasing, an item. Take that instance and look at it closely, what was it that made you pull the trigger?
Got it? Now try to apply that in your marketing strategy. I will be making more of a note about these types of things over the next month. I made a bunch of notes and I didn’t want to hit it all up in one post. Keep in touch and subscribe to catch all the tips and information coming up.
