Does commnting on blogs make a difference?  Well I think that it does and, of course, you want to make sure that you are commenting on blogs that are relevant to your topic.  So, this blog is only 4 months old and I have been commenting regularly on Shoemoney (24 posts), JohnChow (11 posts), BlogAboutYourBlog (21 posts), TheNetFool (3 posts) just to name a few.

Those are higher profile blogs with some decent daily visitor numbers.  Of course, if my blog wasn’t on the same topic as theirs, I wouldn’t get as many visitors from them.

Of the 8 blogs that I have showing, there was a total of 233 visits and an average of 2.03 pages per visit.  I didn’t comment on each blog every single day, but if I read a post of theirs and I thought that I had something to add, I certainly did.

Not all of it was affiliate marketing related either.  Some of the posts that Shoe has added this last month have been political, but because the focus on the blog is generally the same, I commented with my AffiliateObsession anchor text.

This isn’t a huge amount of traffic to my blog, but if you think about the blog only being 4 months old, it was well worth it to get my blogs name out to the blogshere one comment at a time.  Over the past 4 months I have also been in contact with more people via Twitter and the twhirl application.  That has also shown some results

  1. Interesting results! I definitely think that blog commenting is an important part of internet marketing. As well, you should try linking out to sites and articles, as people often want to know who’s linking to them.

I guess it depends on the quality of the comment. Commenting is probably the best way to gain a following because you are adding value to other peoples sites

Yeah I thought the same thing and I am glad that I decided to keep track of the stats. Thanks for the comment.

You are right. You still have to comment normally and within topic on blogs. If you are just selling your blogs name and address, you aren’t going to gain much authority. Thanks for the comment.

Commenting on other blogs is an excellent approach that I make use of regularly. What is more when you leave your site link, if the blog is DoFollor you get a link back to your own blog, which will increase its Google Page Rank.

I think many people underestimate the power of commenting on other blogs.

That is a very good point. The other part of commenting on blogs is that you help to continue the blogging community by giving your 2 cents and allowing the blogger to reply to you.

    Thanks for the comment.

I think another benefit of commenting on blogs, especially popular blogs, is that it gets your name out there. You start to get a presence, and a reputation out in the blog world.

StumbleUpon is a good way of getting your blog name out there, but the traffic is really only temp. and not all that valuable. Nonetheless, good luck and thanks for the comment.
