Technically, there wasn’t going to be a part 2 to this post, but I got some comments about how to make money with referrals, so I thought I would jot down a couple techniques that I currently use.
The newest method that I use for gaining referrals might seem like an easy one, but I am not sure how many people thought of it. I have set up 4-5 ads on Projectwonderful.com and I use that service to place ads on relevant sites. The prices are so cheap, even for sites with 10,000+ visits, that getting referrals has really never been cheaper.
It does cost you per day, but I must say that I have an 8 day ad right now on a GPT site that has me 5 referrals in just 2 of those days. The site is costing me about .70 per day, so I don’t think that is that much for a referral that could make me $x,xxx. I say could, because you just never know the type of referral that you are getting.
Granted the traffic is targeted, people on GPT sites are looking to make some money, so why wouldn’t they click on my ad? The other thing is that they might not have a website or blog to begin with. Why is that bad? If they choose to set one up, I am dealing with a beginner as a referral and it might take months to pay off, if at all.
That is the newest method that I am using and I will keep using that method as long as I see a payoff. Right now the payoff is just getting the referrals, in the long run, it will be nice to see if any of those will really payoff with some results.
When I have more information I will post again with screenshots, etc. Good luck.
Here are some other ways that you could get some referrals.
- Post your affiliate link in your forum signatures (if allowed)
- Email friends and family and tell them about how the program works for you and have them sign up under you. Offer as much help as possible to get them going. The more they make, the more you make.
- Post in relevant forums about how the network has worked for you, providing stats, etc. then tell people to sign up through the link in your sig file.
- Run ads on any PPC network. This could get costly because it’s a mad house out there and you might see yourself paying an arm and a leg for ONE referral. Hence Projectwonderful.com experiment.
These are just a couple of ways. People like love to see stats, figures, $$$ signs. If you put a category on your blog just for this type of post, you will surely get some referrals for free. Oh yeah, and you could post your referral links in your blogroll.
Do you have any other ways to gain referrals that will work for you?
